Jesus Loves Me
A Reflection on John 3:16, 1 John 4:19, and Romans 8:38-39
Jesus loves me—not because I'm good,
Not because I always understood.
He loves me when I fail and fall,
He loves me when I've lost my all.
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
Jesus loves me—in the night,
When fears take flight and hope is slight.
His love is not a fair‑weather friend;
It holds me close, it will not end.
He proved His love on Calvary,
Where nails and spear set sinners free.
While I was still lost in my shame,
He called me by my name.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
So let the mountains crumble, let the oceans cease to roar.
The love of Jesus never fails—it's what my soul is for.
Jesus loves me—this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me—the Bible tells me so.
Amen.
