Holy Spirit bless me with your gifts.

Holy Spirit, Bless Me with Your Gifts

A Reflection on 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Romans 12:6-8

Holy Spirit, bless me with Your gifts—not for pride or show,

But to build the body of Christ, to help Your kingdom grow.

Every gift is from Your hand, a token of Your grace,

An instrument to serve the world and magnify Your face.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. (1 Corinthians 12:4)

Bless me with the word of wisdom—to see beyond the veil,

To speak a timely counsel when human reason fails.

Not my own cleverness, but insight from above,

To guide the lost, encourage the weak, and pour out holy love.

Bless me with the word of knowledge—a truth divinely shown,

A fact or mystery hidden, to make Your glory known.

To understand the times, to speak into the need,

To plant a seed of revelation like a life‑giving creed.

Bless me with faith—the mountain‑moving kind,

That trusts when every circumstance says, “You are left behind.”

Not a fragile hope, but a rock‑sure trust in You,

That sees the unseen, grasps the impossible, and makes all things new.

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith… (1 Corinthians 12:8-9)

Bless me with the gift of healing—to lay my hands on pain,

And see Your resurrection power flow like cleansing rain.

Not by my worth, but by Your name, let sickness bow and flee.

Let the lame walk, the blind see, the captives be set free.

Bless me with miraculous powers—signs that point to You,

Wonders that break the natural law and make the skeptic ask, “What’s true?”

Not for my glory, but for the sake of Your renown,

Let the extraordinary spring from the ordinary town.

Bless me with prophecy—to speak Your very heart,

To comfort, encourage, warn, and set the lonely apart.

Not fortune‑telling, but a timely word from Your throne,

To build up the church, to make Your will known.

To another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits… (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Bless me with discernment of spirits—to see the hidden war,

To tell the genuine from the false, the light from the dark core.

To protect Your flock from deception, to keep the way pure,

And to walk in wisdom when the enemy tries to obscure.

Bless me with tongues and interpretation—a heavenly prayer,

To speak mysteries to You, and then to declare

Their meaning to the people, so all may understand,

And the church may be edified by the Spirit’s command.

Holy Spirit, distribute Your gifts as You will.

I am an empty vessel; with Your grace, I’ll fill.

Not for my boasting, not for my name,

But for the glory of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain.

Bless me, Spirit. Use me, Lord.

Let every gift be an act of worship, an answered chord.

Amen.
