God, I live to worship you.

God, I Live to Worship You

A Reflection on Psalm 86:9, Romans 12:1, and Revelation 4:11

God, I live to worship You—not as a duty or a chore,

But as the deepest longing of a heart that You restore.

From the moment I awaken to the closing of my eyes,

Let my life be filled with worship, rising like the morning skies.

All the nations You have made will come and worship before You, Lord; they will bring glory to Your name. (Psalm 86:9)

Worship—not just songs and hymns, not just a lifted hand,

But every thought and every step across this shifting sand.

The way I love my neighbor, the way I serve the least,

The way I break the bread of grace and offer up a feast.

I live to worship in the ordinary, common space—

In the kindness of a stranger, in the forgiving of disgrace.

In the work of my hands and the words of my mouth,

In the quiet of the morning and the hustle of the south.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (Romans 12:1)

So take my life, Lord—every breath, every beat.

Let it be an offering, fragrant and complete.

Not for my glory, not for my name,

But for the honor of the Lamb who was slain.

I live to worship You—today and every day,

Until I see You face to face and finally learn to say

In fullness what I now declare in faith and trembling too:

God, I live to worship You. My heart belongs to You.

“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things.” (Revelation 4:11)

Amen.
