I Spoke Life
A Declaration on the Power of the Tongue
Reflecting on Proverbs 18:21 and John 6:63
I spoke life—not with a whisper, not with a sigh,
But with the authority of heaven, with the Spirit's reply.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
So I choose to speak what the Lord has sung.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)
I spoke life over my barren ground,
And seeds of hope began to sprout all around.
Over my weary soul, I spoke, "Rise and shine."
And strength flowed in, for the Lord is mine.
I spoke life over my broken dreams,
Over the silent tears and silent screams.
The words I speak are not merely air;
They carry the power of answered prayer.
The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63, paraphrased)
I refuse to speak defeat or dread.
I will not curse the bread I've been fed.
With my mouth, I align with heaven's will.
I speak life, and I will be still.
So let every word I utter bring grace,
Let healing and hope fill every space.
I spoke life—and it shall be so,
For the Lord is the Word, and the Word will grow.
Amen.
