My God
A Reflection on Psalm 63:1, Exodus 15:2, and John 20:28
My God—not a distant, nameless force,
But the One who knows my name, who charts my course.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
The God who parted seas and made the weary heart unpack.
O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You. (Psalm 63:1)
My God—the Father who runs to meet the prodigal,
Who clothes me in righteousness, who makes the broken whole.
He does not turn away when I have wandered far.
He is my refuge and my strength, my bright and morning star.
My God—the Son, the Lamb who was slain,
Who bore my sins, my shame, my pain.
He rose victorious from the grave, He lives to intercede.
My Savior, my Redeemer, my everything I need.
Thomas answered Him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
My God—the Spirit, the Comforter within,
Who leads me into truth and keeps me from old sin.
He prays when I have no words, He seals me as His own.
By His power, I am made new; I am never alone.
So I declare with every breath: You are my God, my all.
When I stand in trials or rest in peaceful thrall,
You are the same—unchanging, true, the great I AM.
My God—my portion, my victory, my great Amen.
The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him. (Exodus 15:2)
Amen.
