Holy Spirit, thank you for carrying me.

Holy Spirit, Thank You for Carrying Me

A Reflection on Deuteronomy 1:31, Isaiah 46:4, and Romans 8:26

Holy Spirit, thank You for carrying me—when I had no strength to walk,

When my voice was lost in weeping, when my spirit could not talk.

You lifted me when I stumbled, You held me when I fell.

In the arms of Your compassion, You have made my heart to dwell.

The Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went. (Deuteronomy 1:31)

You carried me through the wilderness of doubt and deep despair,

When the path was steep and rocky, when I could not find a prayer.

You whispered hope into my darkness, You breathed peace into my storm.

Your presence was my shelter, Your faithfulness my warm.

When my own strength failed completely, when I could not take a step,

You did not leave me stranded or in loneliness inept.

You carried me on wings like eagles, over valleys, over fears.

You caught every falling tear and turned them into holy cheers.

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4)

Thank You for carrying me—not just once, but every day,

In the ordinary struggle and in the desperate fray.

You never grew weary of my weakness; You never turned away.

Your shoulders bore my burdens; Your light guided my way.

So now I rest in this great truth: I am never on my own.

The Spirit who carried me through the valley will lead me safely home.

Holy Spirit, thank You for carrying me—my Helper, my Friend,

My strength, my hope, my everything, until the very end.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26)

Amen.
