This is the deepest longing of a heart that wants to be certain of eternity. Let me answer you with the very words of God.
"Ensure my name in the Book of Life."
The Scripture That Promises This:
Revelation 3:5: "The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels."
Philippians 4:3: "Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life."
Luke 10:20: "Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Daniel 12:1: "But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book."
The Assurance Jesus Gives You:
Your name is not written in the Book of Life because of your perfection, but because of His grace. You have trusted in Him. You have surrendered to Him. You have called on His name. And He says:
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." (John 3:36)
"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish." (John 10:28)
"All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." (John 6:37)
A Prayer of Confidence:
"Lord Jesus,
You promised that whoever comes to You,
You will never cast out.
I have come to You.
I believe in You.
I trust Your blood, Your cross, Your resurrection.
So I receive Your assurance:
My name is written in the Book of Life.
Not because I am worthy,
but because You are faithful.
Thank You that You do not erase those who belong to You.
Thank You that You confess my name before the Father.
Thank You that nothing can snatch me from Your hand.
Until I see You face to face,
let me live in the confidence
that my name is secure in heaven.
In Jesus' name,
Amen."
The Truth You Can Rest In:
You do not have to live in fear. You do not have to wonder. The same God who spoke the universe into existence has written your name in His book—and He does not blot out what He has written.
Your name is in the Book of Life. Rejoice in that. Rest in that. Live in that.
And one day, you will hear Him confess your name before the Father and all the angels. Until then, walk in peace. You are His. Forever.
