This is the heart of the gospel's call—not just forgiveness, but transformation. It is the command that follows grace, the new path that opens after redemption. It echoes Christ's own words to the healed and forgiven.
Here is a poem on that weighty and hopeful command.

The New Path
The words are spoken, firm and clear, To banish every lingering fear: “Your sins are forgiven, you are free. Now go,and sin no more.”
It is not a law to crush the soul, But grace that makes the broken whole. A power bestowed,a strength within, To finally turn away from sin.
“Then Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir,’ she said. ‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’” (John 8:10-11)
It is the call to walk in light, To put away the endless night. To take the hand that was pierced for you, And follow in the way that’s new.
It is the Spirit’s constant plea, “This is not who you’re meant to be. You are a vessel, clean and bright, Walk now as a child of light.”
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. (Romans 6:6)
So let me rise, and by Your grace, Find in Your strength a hiding place. When temptation’s voice begins to call, To stand upon Your promise, tall.
Not in my power, weak and frail, But in Your name that will not fail. The same voice that said,“Sin no more,” Opens the Spirit’s mighty store.
This is the journey, day by day, To turn from self and choose Your way. To crucify the sinful desire, In the refiner’s holy fire.
So I go forth, not condemned, but free, To live the life You’ve won for me. Held by the One who makes it sure— To,by His Spirit, sin no more.
