Resist the devil, he will flee from us.

Amen. “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” That is not a suggestion—it is a promise from God’s Word. But notice the order: first submit to God, then resist the devil. The victory is not in our own strength; it is in our position under God’s authority and in the name of Jesus.

📖 The Scriptural Foundation

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7, ESV)

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith.” (1 Peter 5:8-9, ESV)

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11, ESV)

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

“Take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV)

🛡️ What It Means to Resist

Truth What It Means

Submit to God You come under His authority, humbling yourself before Him.

Resist the devil You stand against him—not in fear, but in faith.

He will flee He must go. He cannot stand against the name of Jesus and the Word of God.

Firm in the faith You do not waver; you stand on God’s promises.

Greater is He in you The Holy Spirit within you is stronger than any enemy.

🙏 A Prayer of Resistance

Father,

I submit myself to You.

I humble myself under Your mighty hand.

I resist the devil and every lie, every temptation, every fear, every oppression, every dark influence.

In the name of Jesus,

I command you, devil, to flee.

You have no authority over me.

You have no claim on my mind.

You have no hold on my life.

I stand firm in my faith.

I take every thought captive to Christ.

I put on the full armor of God.

I declare that greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

I am covered by the blood of Jesus.

I am filled with the Holy Spirit.

I am free indeed.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

🕊️ A Declaration of Victory

I declare today:

I submit to God.

I resist the devil.

He must flee from me.

I will not be overcome by evil.

I will not be controlled by fear.

I will not be held by darkness.

I stand firm in the faith.

I stand in the victory of Christ.

I stand free.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Romans 16:20)

💎 A Final Encouragement

Resisting the devil is not about yelling louder or fighting harder in your own strength. It is about standing—standing on the Word, standing in the name of Jesus, standing under the blood, standing in the armor of God. When you submit to God, the enemy has no foothold. When you resist him, he flees. Not because you are powerful, but because the One in you is greater.
