Bless My Dwelling as Your Holy Ground
A Reflection on Genesis 28:17 and Joshua 24:15
Bless my dwelling as Your holy ground—not by walls or roof alone,
But by the sacred presence of Your everlasting throne.
Let every room and doorway echo with Your name,
And let this home become a place where heaven's glory finds its frame.
“How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” (Genesis 28:17)
Sanctify this dwelling—let it be a house of prayer,
Where peace and love and mercy fill the very air.
Let the footsteps of our family tread softly on Your grace,
And let Your Spirit's gentle voice find here a dwelling place.
Bless the thresholds where we enter and where we depart.
Let the name of Jesus be the first word in every heart.
Bless the windows where we gaze upon the world outside—
Let us see it through Your eyes, with grace and truth as our guide.
Bless the kitchen, where we gather for daily bread and wine,
Let gratitude and fellowship around the table shine.
Bless the rooms of rest, where sleep and dreams are found,
Let Your angels guard the silence and Your peace in us abound.
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
Let this home be holy—not in perfect cleanliness,
But in the warmth of kindness, in the depth of faithfulness.
Where forgiveness is a habit, where laughter is a song,
And where the hurting find a shelter to belong.
Bless my dwelling as Your holy ground—I dedicate it to You,
Every wall, every floor, every window, every door.
Come, Lord Jesus, be the center of our lives,
And let Your glory rise where our family thrives.
Amen.
