I Surrender My Life to Your Loving Arms
A Reflection on Deuteronomy 33:27, Psalm 17:8, and Matthew 11:28-30
I surrender my life to Your loving arms—not the arms of mortal man,
But the everlasting arms that hold the universe's span.
They are the arms that shaped the mountains, that carved the ocean deep,
Yet they cradle every child who comes, and all their promises keep.
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27)
I let go of my striving, my need to control,
The frantic grasping, the grasping for my own soul.
I release my plans, my fears, my shame,
And I rest in the warmth of Your holy name.
Your loving arms—not a cold and distant throne,
But the gentle, tender embrace that calls me Your own.
When I am weary, You carry me; when I am weak, You hold me near.
In Your arms, I have nothing to fear.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings. (Psalm 17:8)
So I lay my burdens down—the worries of the day,
The weight of my failures, the words I cannot say.
I trade my striving for Your rest,
I trade my fear for Your perfect peace, the best.
I surrender my tomorrows, my unknowns, my doubts,
Into the arms that have never, ever let me out.
Not by my strength, but by Your grace,
I find my refuge, my hiding place.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Your loving arms—they welcome the prodigal,
They hold the broken, they heal the sorrowful.
They are the arms that were stretched out on Calvary,
To draw me into Your heart, to set me free.
So I surrender—not in defeat, but in trust.
Not in fear, but in love, for I know that I am just
A child held close to the Father's chest,
Forever safe, forever blessed.
I surrender my life to Your loving arms.
Hold me, Lord. Keep me from all harm.
In Your embrace, I am home, I am free—
Your loving arms are enough for me.
Amen.
