Come to the Father
A Reflection on Luke 15:20, John 6:37, and Ephesians 2:18
Come to the Father—don't wait another day,
Don't let shame or fear keep you away.
The Father's arms are open wide,
There is no need to run and hide.
“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” (Luke 15:20)
Come to the Father—He is not angry or cold,
He is not keeping a record of the sins you have told.
He is the Father who runs to meet you,
Who clothes you with mercy and will not defeat you.
Come—not with a list of your wrongs,
But with a heart that to Him belongs.
He does not demand that you clean your hands,
He only asks that you come as you are and stand.
“All those the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37)
Come to the Father—through Jesus, the only way,
He has made a path for you to stay.
The veil is torn, the way is clear,
The Father's voice is calling, “My child, come near.”
No more orphan spirit, no more slave to fear,
You are a child of God, and He is always near.
Through Christ, we have access to the Father's throne,
Through Christ, we are welcomed and made His own.
“Through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18)
So come, weary one. Come, broken one. Come, lost.
The Father's heart is tender, no matter the cost.
He is waiting, He is running, He is calling your name,
Come to the Father—you will never be the same.
Amen.
