I Love You, Lord
I love You, Lord—and I mean it with every fiber of my being,
Not because of what You give, but simply for who I'm seeing.
I love You for Your holiness, for Your justice and Your grace,
For the tender way You hold me when I'm seeking sight of Your face.
I love You, Lord, my strength. (Psalm 18:1)
I love You, Lord—in the morning when the light begins to creep,
In the quiet before the world awakens from its sleep.
I love You in the busyness, when voices call my name,
When demands press in and circumstances try to tame
The worship in my spirit—but it rises anyway,
Because loving You is not reserved for a Sabbath day.
I love You, Lord—in the shadow and the sun,
In the victories that are won and the battles not yet done.
When the road is smooth and easy, when the path is rough and steep,
When joy fills up my spirit and when sorrow makes me weep—
Through it all, one thing remains constant, one thing true:
My heart was made to love You, and that love will see me through.
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
I love You, Lord—not for what I get from Your hand,
But for the wonder of who You are, the beauty of Your command.
I love You for the cross, where You proved Your love for me,
Where You stretched out Your arms and said, "Behold, I set you free."
I love You for the empty tomb, for the stone rolled away,
For the promise that because You live, I too will live someday.
I love You, Lord—though my words are small and weak,
Though I cannot fully capture all my heart longs to speak.
Receive this simple offering, this honest, humble cry:
I love You, Lord. And in Your love, I live and will not die.
Amen.
