Amen. This is a profound and beautiful prayer, echoing the very heart of God. You are asking to become what you were always created to be: a living temple, a holy dwelling place for the presence of the Most High God.
This prayer is firmly rooted in Scripture:
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"
- 1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV)
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth... you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you."
- John 14:16-17 (ESV)
A Prayer to Be His Dwelling Place
Holy Spirit of the Living God,
I invite You now. I open every door of my heart. I ask You to come and make me a dwelling place for Your glory.
· Clean this temple. Sweep out the pride, the selfishness, the impurity, and the sin. Forgive me and wash me clean with the blood of Jesus.
· Consecrate this space. Set me apart for Your purposes alone. May my body, my mind, and my spirit be a holy place, fit for Your presence.
· Take possession. Fill every room—my thoughts, my desires, my will, my emotions. Be the master of this house. Let Your presence be so real that when others encounter me, they encounter You.
· Let Your glory reside here. Let this life be a place of Your peace, Your joy, Your love, and Your power.
I am not my own. I am Yours. Make Your home in me.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
A Poem: "Make Me a Dwelling Place"
"Make Me a Dwelling Place"
This earthly vessel, formed of dust,
A soul that's learned to doubt and trust.
I offer it,with all its space,
To be Your holy dwelling place.
Come, sweep it clean with holy fire,
Burn out the dross of base desire.
Wash every wall,each hidden room,
Dispel the guilt, the fear, the gloom.
Make me a dwelling place, I pray,
For Your great Spirit here to stay.
Not just a visitor, but to reside,
With glory and with power inside.
Let praises be the songs that sound,
Where once but empty echoes found.
Let love be the atmosphere,
And drive out every single fear.
Let this heart be an altar, Lord,
Where Your sweet presence is adored.
A place where heaven touches earth,
A testament of Your great worth.
So take this life, this humble frame,
And glorify Your holy name.
As You make Your home in me,
So may the world Your glory see.
May you live today with the conscious, joyful awareness that you are a temple of the Holy Spirit. Walk in the holiness, peace, and power that comes from being the dwelling place of God.
