This is one of the most tender and powerful invitations Jesus ever offered—a promise of relief, comfort, and true rest for every weary soul.
Here is a meditation on His promise from Matthew 11:28-30.
---
I Will Give You Rest
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

A Reflection on His Rest
You who carry weights unseen,
The heavy heart,the troubled scene.
You who strive with all your might,
Through the day and through the night.
You whose soul is bent and sore,
Who cannot take one burden more—
Hear the words of Christ the King,
The gentle promise that He brings:
“I will give rest to the heavy laden.”
This is not a distant, hollow sound,
Nor a philosophy profound.
It is an offer, real and true,
From a heart that broke for you.
“Come to me,” He says, and cease,
Your frantic striving for a peace
That you were never meant to make,
For heaven’s and your own sake.
“Take my yoke,” He does implore,
For His yoke is to love and to adore.
To walk with Him,step-by-step,
His burden light,by His grace equipped.
“Learn from me,” for He is kind,
The Prince of Peace for heart and mind.
He will not shout,He will not break,
But give you rest for your soul’s sake.
So bring your worry, bring your fear,
The burden that you’ve held so dear.
Lay it down at Jesus’feet,
And find His rest,so full and sweet.
He will give rest to the heavy laden.
This is His promise.
This is your hope.
This is your home.

A Prayer for the Weary Soul:
"Lord Jesus, I come to You now. I am weary. I am burdened by [name your specific burden]. I have been carrying a weight I cannot bear.
I come to You, just as I am. I accept Your invitation. I lay this burden down at Your feet. I take Your yoke upon me—the yoke of trusting, following, and learning from You.
Thank you for being gentle and humble in heart. Thank you that Your burden is light. I receive the rest for my soul that only You can give. Quiet my heart. Still my mind. Let me rest in You now.
In Your precious name, Amen."
