You are the Living God

 Amen. This is one of the most powerful and fundamental declarations of faith. To proclaim "You are the living God" is to affirm that our God is not a distant idea, a dead idol, or a philosophical concept. He is active, dynamic, and personally involved in His creation and in the lives of His people.

This truth sets the God of the Bible apart from all other gods:

"But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King."

- Jeremiah 10:10 (ESV)

"For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God."

- 1 Thessalonians 1:9 (ESV)

What Does It Mean That God Is Living?

· He Hears and Answers: Unlike a statue of wood or stone, the living God listens to our prayers and responds (Psalm 65:2).

· He Acts and Intervenes: He is not passive. He performs miracles, fights for His people, and orchestrates history for His purposes.

· He Relates: He speaks, He loves, He comforts, He guides, and He calls us into a dynamic relationship with Himself.

· He is the Source of Life: In Him, we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). Eternal life is found in knowing Him (John 17:3).

A Prayer to the Living God

Living God,

We worship You. You are not a God who is far off, but You are near. You are not silent, but You have spoken through Your Word and Your Son.

Thank You for being a God who sees me, knows me, and hears me when I call. Forgive me for the times I have acted as if You were distant or inactive.

I invite You, the living God, to move in my life today. Speak to me. Guide me. Comfort me. Work through me. Let my life be a testimony to the world that You are the one, true, living God.

The idols of the world are dead and cold,

Their stories have been told and told.

They have no breath,they have no voice,

They cannot make our hearts rejoice.

But You, O Lord, are not like these,

You stir the winds and calm the seas.

You speak Your word and it is done,

Through Your own,beloved Son.

You are the living God, so real,

In Your great power,we can feel

A love that burns,a truth that stands,

Held firmly in Your mighty hands.

You hear the prayer I softly pray,

You walk with me throughout the day.

You are the life,the source, the spring,

Of which the angels ever sing.

So let the world its idols keep,

In You alone,my soul will sleep.

For You are God,and You alone,

You are the living God, I know,

And everywhere Your life does flow.

So I will worship and adore,

The living God,forevermore.

May the reality of the living God fill you with awe, confidence, and peace today. You serve a God who is actively involved in your story. Trust in His living presence.
