Let our Light shine before man.

This is a direct and powerful command from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount—a call to live out our faith visibly and attractively, so that others might see God's goodness and glorify Him.

Here is a reflection and prayer on Matthew 5:16.

Let Our Light Shine

You are the Light of all mankind,

The truth for which the seeking mind

Has always longed, the heart's true home,

Through whom God's love to us has come.

And we, who once were lost in night,

Have now been lit by Your great light.

This light You've placed within our soul,

Is meant to make the broken whole.

So let it not be hid away,

Beneath a basket,day by day.

Nor let it be a timid glow,

That only we ourselves can know.

"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

Let our light shine before man.

Not with a prideful, blinding glare,

That simply seeks its own fanfare.

But with the steady,gentle ray

That points another to the Way.

Let it shine through our acts of love,

Reflecting grace from God above.

Let it shine through our integrity,

In word,in work, for all to see.

Let it shine when we forgive,

To show the new way we can live.

This light is not our own poor striving,

But Christ within us,alive and thriving.

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light."(Ephesians 5:8)

So let our lives be a display,

Of hope and truth, throughout the day.

That when the world sees love and grace,

They'll seek the Father's glorious face.

Let our light shine before man.

For Your glory alone.

A Prayer to Shine Brightly:

"Heavenly Father,

You have called us to be the light of the world. Forgive us for the times we have hidden our light out of fear, comfort, or insecurity.

Ignite us afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Let the light of Your love, joy, and truth burn so brightly in us that it cannot be contained. Give us courage and opportunities to let our light shine through acts of kindness, words of hope, and lives of integrity.

We pray that when people see our good deeds, they would not see us, but would look up and give glory to You, our Father in heaven.

May our lives be a clear reflection of Jesus, in whose name we pray,

Amen."
