Bring me to heaven's staircase.

Bring Me to Heaven's Staircase

My feet are planted on the earthly ground,

Where daily cares and shallow sounds abound.

But in my spirit,there's a holy ache,

A longing only You can fully slake.

I do not ask to escape this world of care,

But for a glimpse of glory,here, right there.

A secret place,a portal, and a door,

Where I can come,and truly, deeply, soar.

Bring me to heaven's staircase.

Let it be the place of prayer,

Where I can meet You in the air.

Let it be Your Word,so true,

A step that brings me close to You.

Let it be in worship's song,

Where I can see where I belong.

"He said to them, 'Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.'" (John 1:51)

For Jesus, You are the Staircase, You the Way,

The Ladder connecting night to day.

You are the One who bridges the great span,

The Son of God,the Son of Man.

So as I climb, step by step by grace,

Let me see the kindness in Your face.

With every step,let pride and self decrease,

With every step,let faith and stillness increase.

The first step up is often humility,

To lay down"my way" and simply "see."

The next isprayer, a conversation's start,

Where I pour out to You my seeking heart.

Another step ispraise, a holy breath,

That triumphs over fear and even death.

And then,surrender, letting go my will,

Upon Your promise,my own spirit still.

Bring me to heaven's staircase.

Not that I might boast or claim a height,

But to be changed within Your glorious light.

To catch a breeze from that eternal shore,

And love You,serve You, and yet long for more.

Until the day You call me from this place,

To dwell forever in Your glorious grace.

A Prayer for the Ascent:

"Lord God, my Heavenly Father,

I ask You to bring me to the foot of heaven's staircase. Draw my heart upward to You. I want to climb higher in my knowledge of You, in my intimacy with Your Spirit, and in the transformation of my character.

Forgive me for being content with the low ground. Forgive me for the distractions that keep me from ascending.

Jesus, You are my Staircase. I cling to You. As I read Your Word, as I pray, as I worship, and as I serve, let each act be a step upward, closer to Your heart. Let me feel the reality of Your kingdom breaking into my world.

Meet me on the staircase. Speak to me. Change me.
