We are make in the image of God.

This is one of the most profound and foundational truths of human existence. To be made in the Imago Dei—the Image of God—is the source of our inherent dignity, worth, and purpose.

Here is a reflection on this glorious reality.

Made in His Image

Before the mountains found their place,

Or stars were sprinkled into space,

A thought was formed in God's great heart,

A masterpiece,set right apart.

Not by a random, blind command,

But shaped and sculpted by His hand.

With careful thought and love's design,

He made His likeness to be mine.

"Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness...'

So God created mankind in his own image,

in the image of God he created them;

male and female he created them."(Genesis 1:26-27)

We are made in the image of God.

This is not a shape of face or hand,

But something far more deeply planned.

It is a spiritual imprint,a holy seal,

A truth that makes our value real.

We bear His mark of mind to reason and create,

Hisheart to love, to pity, and to hate the wrong.

Hisspirit to connect with Him in sacred space,

Hismoral law of justice, truth, and grace.

We are His mirrors, meant to show,

To all creation here below,

A glimpse of His eternal nature—

His love,His order, His creative stature.

And though that image has been marred,

By sin, which left it scarred and scarred,

The value and the purpose stand,

Held firm within His sovereign hand.

For Christ, Himself the Image true,

Came to restore and make us new.

"The Son is the image of the invisible God..."(Colossians 1:15)

And in His grace,we are remade,

As His own image is displayed.

We are made in the image of God.

This is our identity.

This is our dignity.

This is our destiny.

What This Means for Us:

Being made in God's image confers upon every single human being an unshakeable dignity and purpose.

1. Inherent Worth: Our value is not based on our productivity, appearance, abilities, or what others think of us. It is intrinsic, given by God. This is the foundation for human rights and the command to love our neighbor.

2. Relational Capacity: God is a relational Being (Father, Son, Spirit). We are made for relationship—with Him and with one another.

3. Creative Stewardship: We are called to be creative and to rule over creation as responsible stewards, reflecting God's wise and caring governance.

4. Moral Responsibility: We have a conscience and an innate sense of right and wrong, pointing to the Lawgiver whose character is the standard.

A Prayer of Wonder:

"Creator God, the thought is too wonderful for me—that I, in all my frailty, am made in Your image. Thank you. Forgive me for the times I have defaced this image in myself or in others through my thoughts, words, or actions.

Help me to see every person I meet as an image-bearer of Your glory, worthy of dignity and love. And by Your Spirit, continue to restore Your image in me, that I might more fully reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ.

In His name, Amen."
