You are my First Love

 Of course. This cry from the heart echoes the prayers of faithful believers throughout Scripture who, in moments of deep pain, isolation, or fear, clung to God's character and promises above their own feelings.

This prayer is found in the Psalms, a book filled with raw human emotion met by God's steadfast love:

"Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me."

A Prayer for When You Feel Forsaken

My God, my Father,

In this moment of deep need, I cry out to You. The silence is loud, and the loneliness is heavy. My heart whispers, "Do not forget me. Do not forsake me."

I choose to hold onto Your promises over my feelings. Your Word says You will never leave me. Your Word says I am engraved on the palms of Your hands. I believe; help my unbelief.

· When I feel forgotten, remind me that You are thinking of me with thoughts of peace and hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

· When I feel forsaken, let me feel the comfort of Your presence, even if it is a quiet assurance and not a dramatic feeling.

· Anchor my soul in the truth of Your faithful character. You are not a man that You should lie. If You said "never," You mean never.

I place my trust not in my circumstances, but in You, the unchanging, faithful God.

In the name of Jesus, who cried "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" so that I would never have to be. Amen.

"Do Not Forget Me"

In the silence and the shadows long,

Where it feels like everything is wrong,

A whispered prayer,a desperate plea:

"My God,do not forget nor forsake me."

The world moves on, and friends may leave,

In this deep ache,I grieve and I grieve.

But in the stillness,a truth I'll claim,

A promise whispered in Your name.

You have not left, You are still here,

You hold my every pain and tear.

You see the struggle,You see the cost,

You see the very one that's lost.

So though I feel alone and small,

I'll trust the One who sees it all.
