Prayer for Spiritual Discernment.

This is a profound and essential prayer. To ask for the discernment of the Holy Spirit is to ask for the God-given ability to perceive the true spiritual nature of people, situations, and ideas—to see as God sees, not just as man sees.

Discernment is not suspicion or criticism; it is a gift of clarity and wisdom that protects us from deception and guides us into truth.

"The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ."

A Prayer for Spiritual Discernment

Heavenly Father,

In a world filled with mixed messages, half-truths, and outright deception, I need Your clarity. I cannot navigate the complexities of life and spirit relying on my own understanding.

I ask You now, in the name of Jesus, to bless me with the discernment of the Holy Spirit.

· Give me eyes to see beyond the surface of people and situations. Reveal the true motives, the hidden snares, and the genuine opportunities for Your glory.

· Give me ears to hear the difference between Your still, small voice and the voice of the enemy, or even my own fleshly desires.

· Align my mind with the mind of Christ so that I may judge all things according to Your truth and not according to human wisdom.

· Let this discernment be rooted in love, so that it builds up and protects, rather than criticizes and tears down.

Holy Spirit, be my teacher and my guide. Make me sensitive to Your promptings. Help me to distinguish between truth and error, light and darkness, the holy and the profane.

Thank you for this gift. I receive it by faith and will seek to walk in it with humility.

"The Gift of Discernment"

I do not ask for judging eyes,

That only see and criticize.

I do not ask a heart of doubt,

To only figure things all out.

I ask for eyes that see the heart,

To know the false and true apart.

I ask for ears that hear the tone,

Behind the words that are made known.

Bless me with the Spirit's sight,

To walk in truth,to walk in light.

To sense the movement in the air,

To be aware,to be aware.

To know the path that I should take,

And for my own soul's safety's sake.

To see the wolf within the sheep,

The promises You will not keep.

And also see the hidden gold,

The timid heart,the story untold.

The potential for a mighty grace,

In an unlikely,humble place.

So grant me, Lord, this precious gift,

To give my spirit a needed lift.

The discernment of the Holy One,

Revealed through Christ,Your precious Son.

May you grow in this vital gift, using it to walk safely, love wisely, and serve effectively in God's kingdom. Trust that the Spirit who lives in you will faithfully guide you into all truth.
