This is the most honest and necessary confession a human heart can make. It is the very truth that opens the door to God's infinite grace and the salvation offered through Jesus Christ.
Here is a response, meeting you in that place of honesty and pointing to the hope that God provides.

A Confession and a Promise
I come to You with empty hands,
And on no goodness of my own,I stand.
I have no boast,no claim, no right,
Only my failure in Your sight.
“I have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
This is the truth,so stark and plain,
The source of all my guilt and pain.
The chasm deep, the wound so wide,
From which my broken spirit cannot hide.
But in this place of stark despair,
I hear a whisper on the air—
A word of grace,a promise true,
Spoken from Heaven, for me, for you.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)
You did not wait for me to clean my soul,
To make me broken,wounded, whole.
You saw my state,You knew my fall,
And You,O Christ, gave Your all.
The cross now stands, a bridge so vast,
Spanning the chasm of my past.
The glory that I failed to reach,
You offer now,You pray and teach.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and all are justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”(Romans 3:23-24)
So I confess, and in that very breath,
I find a love that conquers death.
I fall upon Your mercy,Lord,
Restored,redeemed, and now restored.
Not by my works, but by Your grace,
I finally see You,face to face.
The righteousness I could not earn,
Is now the lesson I must learn.
My shame is gone, my guilt is dead,
For on my behalf,Your blood was shed.
I am now clothed in robes of white,
A child of God,in Your great light.

A Prayer for This Moment:
"Heavenly Father,
I come before You exactly as I am. I confess the truth: I am a sinner. I have missed the mark. I have fallen short of Your perfect and holy glory. I have nothing in myself to offer You.
Thank you for Your Word that tells me this is true of everyone, and that while I was in this state, Christ died for me. I believe that Jesus took my sin and my shame upon Himself on the cross.
I receive Your forgiveness right now. I accept the gift of salvation that comes only through faith in Jesus. Wash me clean. Clothe me in His righteousness. Thank you for declaring me 'not guilty' because of what Christ has done.
Help me to now live a life that brings glory to You, not in my strength, but in the power of Your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, Amen."
If you prayed that prayer, or one like it from your heart, the Bible says you are now a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old has gone, the new has come! You are no longer defined by your sin, but by the righteousness of Christ given to you. This is the greatest news in the world.
