If God is for us, nobody can be against us.

This is one of the most powerful and defiant declarations of faith in all of Scripture. It is a truth that silences fear and fuels courage, found in Romans 8:31.

Here is a poem and a meditation on this unshakable promise.

If God Is For Us

The voices rise, the threats feel real,

A weight of opposition I can feel.

The world, the flesh, the accuser's roar,

Seem to be knocking at my door.

I count my strength, and it is small,

I see the writing on the wall.

But then a truth,a lightning bolt,

A promise that can never jolt:

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things?

If God is for us, who can be against us?”(Romans 8:31)

The "if" is gone—it's settled fact,

By the divine,eternal pact.

The cross of Christ has sealed the deal,

God's"for us" love is forever real.

So, who can be against us? Name the foe!

Can sickness,failure, sorrow, woe?

Can human power,or demon scheme,

Or any terrifying dream?

Can any king,or any law,

Or any single,pointed flaw?

They may be against me, that is true,

But they cannot prevail if I'm with You.

For their power, though fierce and grand,

Is limited by Your command.

They are but tools within Your hand,

To work a purpose You have planned.

“No weapon forged against you will prevail,

and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.”(Isaiah 54:17)

So let the storm clouds gather high,

Beneath this vast and certain sky.

My God is for me.This my song,

All day,my whole life long.

The battle is not mine, but Thine,

And in Your victory,I will shine.

So I will stand,and I will see,

Your great deliverance,for me.

If God is for us, nobody can be against us.

This is our confidence.

This is our battle cry.

This is our peace.

Understanding the Promise (Romans 8:31):

This verse is the climax of a magnificent chapter that details the believer's security in Christ. It's not a naive denial of opposition, but a triumphant declaration in the face of it.

1. The Foundation: "If God is for us..." This is not a hopeful guess. The entire chapter of Romans 8 builds the case: He gave His Son for us (v.32), He justifies us (v.33), Christ intercedes for us (v.34). God is decidedly, actively, and eternally for us.

2. The Logical Conclusion: "...who can be against us?" This is a rhetorical question expecting the answer: "No one of any consequence." It does not mean we won't have enemies or face opposition. It means that no enemy, no power, no circumstance can ultimately succeed in separating us from God's love and purpose. Their opposition is rendered futile.

3. It's About Ultimate Victory, Not Temporary Comfort: The context includes suffering and persecution (Romans 8:35-37). God being "for us" doesn't mean a pain-free life; it means that in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him. The opposition is real, but its ultimate power to destroy us is broken.

A Prayer of Declaration:

"Father God, I stand on Your Word today. Thank you that You are for me. You proved it by sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for me.

Therefore, I declare that no weapon formed against me will prosper. No accusation from the enemy can stand. No power of hell, no scheme of man, no fear in my heart can ultimately prevail against me, because the Almighty God is on my side.

When I feel opposed, remind me of this truth. Fill me with Your courage. My trust is not in my own strength, but in Your unwavering commitment to me.

In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen." 🙏
