God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Of course. This is one of the most stabilizing and comforting truths in all of Scripture. In a world of constant change, decay, and uncertainty, the nature, character, and power of God are eternally fixed. He is our unshakable anchor.

Here is a meditation on the eternal constancy of our God.

The Same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever

The mountains crumble to the dust,

The proudest empires turn to rust.

The seasons change, the years they fly,

Beneath the vast and turning sky.

But high above this shifting sand,

Stands One on whom the ages stand.

No shadow of turning,no decay,

The same,for all of yesterday.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Yesterday, He was the Word at the dawn of creation,

The covenant-keeper to every generation.

The rock in the desert, the cloud and the fire,

The fulfillment of Abraham’s deepest desire.

The Lamb on the cross, who bore all my shame,

The Victor who rose, proclaiming His name.

Today, He is the same. His love has not chilled,

His promise to hold me is forever fulfilled.

His grace is sufficient for this very hour,

His Spirit within me,my strength and my power.

He hears the same prayer,He forgives the same sin,

He welcomes the seeker who enters right in.

Forever, He will be the King on the throne,

The Light of the City, where night is unknown.

The Alpha,Omega, Beginning and End,

The forever Redeemer,the eternal Friend.

The Lamb who was slain, who will ever be praised,

Through infinite ages,His name will be raised.

So when my heart trembles, and fears rise within,

When change is the song that this world sings of sin—

I look to my Anchor,my Fortress, my All,

And trust in the One who will never, ever fall.

God is the same.

My hope is secure.

My faith has a foundation.

My future is sure.

What This Means for Us:

The immutability (unchangeableness) of God is the bedrock of our faith.

1. His Character is Constant: His love, holiness, justice, and mercy do not fluctuate. He is not loving one day and distant the next. He is always, perfectly, and fully good.

2. His Promises are Sure: Because He does not change, His Word stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). Every promise He has made in Scripture is as reliable today as it was when it was first spoken.

3. Our Salvation is Secure: Our standing with God is based on the finished work of Christ, who is "the same." He will not revoke His salvation or change the terms of His grace.

4. We Can Trust Him Completely: In every season of life—prosperity or poverty, health or sickness, joy or sorrow—we can rely on the fact that God is consistently faithful, powerful, and present.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving:

"Father God, thank you that You are the same. You are not moody, fickle, or changing. In a world that offers no certainty, You are my Rock.

Thank you that the God who parted the Red Sea is the same God who guides me today. Thank you that the Jesus who healed the sick and forgave the sinner is the same Jesus who lives in me by His Spirit. Thank you that the love demonstrated on the cross is the same love that surrounds me now and will for all eternity.

I anchor my soul to You today. In the unchanging name of Jesus, Amen."
