Guide Me with Your Mighty Hand
A Reflection on Exodus 15:13 and Psalm 48:14
Guide me with Your mighty hand—not a gentle nudge or whispered clue,
But the strong, unwavering grip that leads me through and through.
When the path is steep and rocky, when the way is lost to sight,
Take my hand in Yours, O Lord, and be my eternal light.
In Your unfailing love You will lead the people You have redeemed. In Your strength You will guide them to Your holy dwelling. (Exodus 15:13)
Your mighty hand—that stretched out the heavens,
That parted the Red Sea, that shattered the leaven
Of Egypt's oppression and set captives free.
The same hand now reaches, dear Lord, to me.
Guide me through the wilderness of doubt and fear,
Where the way is uncertain and the enemy is near.
Let Your pillar of cloud go before me in the day,
Your pillar of fire at night to light my way.
For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end. (Psalm 48:14)
When I stumble, catch me. When I wander, draw me back.
When I grow weary of the journey and my own strength I lack,
Lift me in Your mighty hand and carry me a while,
Until I see Your promised land and rest beneath Your smile.
I trust Your hand, though I cannot see the road.
You know the valleys and the mountains, the heavy, hidden load.
Guide me with Your mighty hand—not by my will, but Yours.
You are the God who never fails; on that, my hope secures.
Amen.
