Power over Death and Hades

 Amen. This declaration speaks to the ultimate, supreme, and finished victory of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not a plea, but a proclamation of His absolute authority.

Power Over Death and Hades

The grave stood firm, a silent, final door,

A victory for death forevermore.

And Hades gaped,a shadowed, yawning deep,

Where all the hopes of fallen souls asleep.

But in the darkness of a garden tomb,

A seed of life began to break the gloom.

The King of Life,who gave His final breath,

Now turned His face to conquer sin and death.

And on that day, the earth could not contain

The holy fire,the everlasting gain.

The stone rolled back,not to let a soul depart,

But to reveal the resurrection's heart.

He has power over death and Hades.

Death’s sting is drawn, its victory is undone,

By the great battle fought and won by the Son.

The grave is now a bed where saints may sleep,

A temporary promise they will keep.

And Hades’ gates, which stood so strong and tall,

Could not prevail,could not their King enthrall.

He stripped the keys from the defeated foe,

And now the way to life He’s free to show.

He holds the keys, the ultimate control,

He holds the title deed to every soul.

The First and Last,who was, and is, to come,

To whom all knees shall bow,all tongues be dumb.

So let the church arise and boldly say,

The fear of death is taken all away.

For our great Captain leads us through the strife,

He is the Resurrection and the Life.

Power over death and Hades is His,

In the mighty name of Jesus!

The victory is won,the battle’s done,

Our everlasting King has overcome!
