Take Away My Fears and Worries
A Reflection on Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Peter 5:7, and Isaiah 41:10
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Take away my fears and worries—the weight I was never meant to bear,
The sleepless nights, the anxious thoughts, the weight of every care.
I have carried them too long, in the silence and the shout,
Believing somehow worrying was what faithfulness was about.
But You invite me differently—not to strive, but to release.
You say, "Cast your cares upon Me; I will give you peace."
Not a partial lifting, not a temporary stay,
But a full exchange: Your rest for my dismay.
Take away my fears—the fear of failure, the fear of man,
The fear of tomorrow, the fear of what I cannot plan.
The fear of being alone, the fear of being known,
The fear that I am not enough, that I am on my own.
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
Take away my worries—the what-ifs that steal my sleep,
The questions that have no answers, the promises I cannot keep.
The worries about provision, about health, about the future,
The worries that whisper, "You are not secure."
I bring them now, Lord—every anxious thought,
Every burden that my heart has fought.
I lay them at Your feet, I leave them in Your hand,
I trust that You will help me stand.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
I will not pick them up again—when worry taps my shoulder,
I will remember: You are the Burden-Bearer, growing bolder
In my heart as I release control. So take my fears and all my care,
And in exchange, give me Your peace—beyond all earthly fare.
The peace of God—not the absence of the storm,
But the presence of the One who keeps me safe and warm.
It guards my heart, it guards my mind,
It leaves my anxious thoughts behind.
So I receive Your peace—not as a feeling, but as a fact.
Not because my life is ordered, but because You have my back.
Take away my fears and worries—this is my prayer,
And I leave them with You, in Your loving care.
Amen.
