Shout to the Lord, all the earth.

Shout to the Lord, All the Earth

A Reflection on Psalm 98:4-6

Shout to the Lord, all the earth—let the roar of the ocean become a chorus of praise,

Let the crash of the thunder become a cymbal's loud raise.

Let every mountain lift up its voice to the sky,

Let every valley in joyful response echo high.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music. (Psalm 98:4)

Shout—not a whisper, not a sigh,

But a trumpet blast of praise that pierces the sky.

The angels cry it, the saints repeat,

The martyrs sing it from their mercy seat.

Let the forests clap their hands, let the rivers all sing,

Let creation erupt in one glorious ring.

For the Maker has come, and the Savior has won!

The battle is over, the great work is done!

Shout for His justice—He has judged with His might.

Shout for His mercy—He has made all things right.

Shout for His faithfulness, steadfast and true,

To the people He loves, to me and to you.

Sing to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn—shout for joy before the Lord, the King. (Psalm 98:5-6)

Shout to the Lord, all the earth—let the song of the people join the song of the land,

A symphony played by the work of His hand.

From the rising of the sun to its final descent,

Let the praise of all nations to His throne be sent.

Shout for the victory that has already been won,

Shout for the grace of the Father, the love of the Son.

Shout for the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,

Who empowers, who guides, who sets us apart.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. (Psalm 150:6)

And I, with the earth, will lift up my cry.

I will shout to my Savior, my King Most High.

With all of my being, with joy unrestrained,

I will join in the anthem that cannot be contained.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth!

My King and my God!

Hallelujah!

Amen.
