You are a Good God.

 You Are a Good God

A Reflection on Psalm 34:8, Psalm 100:5, and Nahum 1:7

You are a good God—not sometimes, not when the skies are blue,

But always, through the storm and through the trials I go through.

Your goodness is not earned by my performance or my prayer;

It flows from who You are—a Father who will always care.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. (Psalm 34:8)

Good in the valley, when the shadows stretch so deep.

Good on the mountain, when the promises I keep.

Good in the waiting, when the answer seems delayed.

Good in the harvest, when my cup is overlaid.

You are a good God—not just in what You give or take away,

But in Your very nature, through the night and through the day.

You work all things for good for those who love Your name.

Your goodness is the anchor that will always stay the same.

For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:5)

Good—when I cannot see the way,

Good—when I have no words to pray,

Good—when the enemy surrounds,

Good—when my heart is full of doubts.

Your goodness is not a feeling; it is a fact.

It is the rock on which I stand, the ground of every act.

When I am weak, Your goodness holds me tight.

When I am strong, Your goodness gives me light.

You are a good God—and You are good to me.

In every season, in every place, for all eternity.

I have tasted, I have seen, I know that it is true:

You are a good God—and I belong to You.

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7)

So I will sing of Your goodness, not because I understand,

But because You hold my future in the hollow of Your hand.

You are a good God—I've tasted, I have seen.

The Lord, my God, is good—and He is good to me.

Amen.
