My Jesus, My Saviour
A Reflection on John 20:28, Romans 10:9, and 1 Timothy 1:15
My Jesus, my Saviour—there is no other name
That holds the weight of glory, yet bears my sin and shame.
You are the God who fashioned me, who knew me from the start,
Yet You became the offering that mended this broken heart.
Thomas answered Him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
My Jesus—not a distant figure in a book,
Not a name I only speak when I am in a holy nook.
You are the Lord of my waking, the Lord of my rest,
The One who knows my rising up and knows my sleeping breast.
My Saviour—the name that means You save,
Not from earthly troubles, but from the grip of the grave.
You came to seek and to save the lost,
To pay the debt I could not pay, whatever the cost.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
My Jesus, my Saviour—You are my strong deliverer, my fortress and my shield,
The source of every promise, the power that makes me yield
Not to fear or failure, but to Your victorious grace,
That meets me in my weakness and shows me Your face.
You are my redemption, my righteousness, my peace,
My anchor in the storm, my hope that will not cease.
You are the Friend who sticks closer than a brother or a son,
The victory already fought, the victory already won.
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15)
My Jesus, my Saviour—my beginning and my end.
My dearest Lord and Brother, my everlasting Friend.
I declare it now, aloud, with every breath I own:
You are my Jesus, my Saviour—my King upon the throne.
Amen.
