The Lord is my Light and Salvation.

The Lord Is My Light and Salvation

A Reflection on Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)

The Lord is my light—not a flicker, not a glow,

But a blazing, morning sunrise that shatters every shadow below.

When darkness tries to overwhelm, when fear begins to rise,

His light breaks through the gloom and opens up my eyes.

Light—to guide my steps, to show the way,

To turn my midnight into day.

Light—to expose the lies, to reveal the truth,

To renew my spirit and my youth.

The Lord is my salvation—not a partial, hesitant rescue,

But a full and final deliverance, a freedom that is true.

He is the One who saves me from the pit of shame,

Who lifts me from the miry clay and calls me by my name.

Salvation—not by my works, not by my worth,

But by the blood of Jesus, the second birth.

Salvation—from sin, from death, from fear,

From the enemy's whisper, from the grave's cold leer.

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—a fortress, a tower,

A refuge in the day of trouble, a shelter in the hour

When the storms of life rage and the winds blow high.

He is the rock on which I stand, the strength I rely.

Stronghold—not a prison, but a place of safety,

A hiding place, a sanctuary.

Stronghold—where I am protected, where I am secure,

Where I know that my future is secure.

Whom shall I fear?—not the enemy, not the night,

Not the terror of the shadow, not the loss of light.

If the Lord is my light and my salvation, then I will not be afraid.

Of whom shall I be afraid?

Not of man, not of circumstances, not of the unknown,

Not of the power of the enemy, not of being alone.

For the Lord is with me, and He is my shield,

He is my fortress, my victory, my field.

So I will not fear—though the battle rages,

Though the enemy wages his war of ages.

The Lord is my light; He will guide my way.

The Lord is my salvation; He will save the day.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—this is my song,

My declaration, my shield, my strong.

In Him, I will trust; in Him, I will abide.

With Him, I will walk, with Him, I will stride.

Amen.
