Forgive my trespassers.

 Forgive My Trespasses

A Reflection on Matthew 6:12, 1 John 1:9, and Psalm 51:1-2

Forgive my trespasses, Lord—the debts I cannot pay,

The words I spoke in anger, the thoughts that went astray.

The things I should have done but left undone,

The battles lost, the races not yet run.

“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12)

Trespasses—the times I crossed the line,

The moments I made Your will not mine.

The secret sins, the hidden shame,

The failures that I cannot name.

But You are faithful, You are just,

When I confess, in You I trust.

You wash me clean, You make me whole,

You restore the joy within my soul.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Forgive me—not because I am good,

But because You understood

That I am dust, that I am weak,

And that Your mercy is what I seek.

As I forgive others, help me to release

The grudges that destroy my peace.

Let me forgive as I've been forgiven,

And let Your love in me be driven.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:2)

Forgive my trespasses, Lord—I lay them at Your feet.

Your grace is sufficient, Your mercy is complete.

I receive Your pardon, I receive Your peace,

And in Your forgiveness, my soul finds release.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Forgive my trespasses—and let me walk in newness of life,

Free from guilt, free from shame,

Forever forgiven in Jesus' name.

Amen.
