Day and Night we pray to you.

Day and Night We Pray to You

A Reflection on Psalm 88:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and Luke 18:1

Day and night we pray to You—not just in times of need,

But in the quiet moments, in the planting of the seed.

In the morning when we rise, in the evening when we rest,

In the silence and the chaos, we bring to You our best.

Lord, You are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to You. (Psalm 88:1)

Day and night—not a ritual or a chore,

But a conversation that opens heaven's door.

In the busyness of noontide, in the stillness of the night,

We lift our hearts to You, our Father, our guiding light.

We pray for the broken, for the weary and the weak,

For the ones who cannot find the words to speak.

We pray for the lost, for the wandering and the stray,

That Your love would find them and show them the way.

Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Day and night we pray—not with eloquence or fame,

But with the faith that calls upon Your name.

Like the widow who kept knocking, like the friend who asked at night,

We persist in prayer, we stand in the light.

We pray for healing, for provision, for peace,

For the wars to cease, for the captives' release.

We pray for our families, our friends, our foes,

That Your mercy would flow wherever we go.

Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1)

Day and night we pray—not because we are good,

But because You are faithful, and You understood

Our need for connection, our need for grace,

Our need to seek Your holy face.

We pray in the Spirit, we pray with the Word,

We pray with groans that cannot be heard.

We pray with confidence, we pray with trust,

Knowing that You hear us, and You are just.

Day and night we pray to You—this is our vow,

Our song, our prayer, our "here and now."

Not by our strength, but by Your grace,

We will pray in every time and place.

Amen.
