I Cry My Tears
A Reflection on Psalm 56:8, Psalm 30:5, and Revelation 21:4
I cry my tears—not as a sign of weakness,
But as a release, a letting go, a holy meekness.
For tears are not a failure of faith,
They are the language of a heart that waits.
You have taken account of my wanderings; put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book? (Psalm 56:8)
I cry my tears—in the silence of the night,
When the world is still and the pain is bright.
When the weight of sorrow presses down,
And my heart feels like it might drown.
But You, O Lord, are near to the broken and the crushed.
You do not turn away from those whose spirits are rushed
With pain and confusion, with questions without end.
You are the God who bends to heal, the Mender and the Friend.
I cry my tears—for the losses I have known,
For the seeds of grief that have been sown.
For the dreams that never came to be,
For the parts of me that still feel empty.
But You collect every tear—not one is wasted, not one is lost.
You hold them as precious, no matter the cost.
Each drop is a prayer, each sob is a plea,
A cry to the One who is waiting for me.
Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)
I cry my tears—and I am not ashamed.
For I know that my Redeemer has claimed
Every sorrow, every ache, every silent tear,
And He will turn them into something clear.
One day, all tears will be dried, all sorrow will cease.
There will be no more pain, no more grief, no more release.
But until that day, I will let my tears flow,
Knowing that the God of all comfort is holding me close, even in the low.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." (Revelation 21:4)
So I cry my tears—and I trust in Your grace.
You are with me in every time and every place.
You hold me in the valley, You lift me in the storm,
And in Your arms, I am safe and warm.
I cry my tears—and I know they are not in vain.
You will turn them to joy, You will heal my pain.
For You are the God who sees, who hears, who knows,
And in Your love, my tears find their repose.
Amen.
