Don't leads us into temptations.

This line from the Lord's Prayer is a humble and profound plea for God's guidance and protection. It acknowledges our human weakness and our need for His divine intervention to keep us from situations that would overpower our faith and lead us into sin.

Here is a reflection and prayer on this theme.

---

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Our spirits are willing, but our flesh is so weak,

The promises we fervently speak

Can crumble and fall when the tempter draws near,

And clouds our good judgment with doubt and with fear.

So we pray with the wisdom that Jesus imparted,

With humble and trusting,yet vulnerable-hearted:

"Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one."(Matthew 6:13)

This is not a prayer that God would ever bait,

Or dangle before us a sinful, dark gate.

"For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone."(James 1:13)

It is rather a plea, a child's earnest cry:

"Father,as I walk, please guide me on by

The paths where the snares are too subtle, too deep,

Where my own strength would falter,my promises keep.

Do not let my faith be tested beyond what I can bear,

But in the moment of trial, show me Your care.

Lead me away from the precipice'edge,

And onto the solid ground,a safe, holy ledge."

It is a prayer for awareness, for eyes that can see

The enemy's approach, and to instantly flee.

It is asking for wisdom to choose the right way,

And for strength in our spirit to faithfully pray.

So, Lord, we ask You, our Shepherd and Guide,

Walk with us closely, right here at our side.

When temptation's allure begins to feel strong,

Be our rescue, our victory, our conquering song.

Do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

Forever.

Amen.

A Deeper Understanding:

This plea recognizes two key things:

1. Our Own Vulnerability: We are not strong enough on our own to consistently resist temptation. We need God's help to even avoid the circumstances that would lead us to fall.

2. God's Sovereign Care: We are asking God to order our steps and our days in such a way that we are spared from unnecessary trials and tests that would crush our faith. We are asking Him to be our divine navigator, steering us away from spiritual danger zones.

A Personal Prayer:

"Heavenly Father,

I confess my weakness. My heart wants to follow You, but I am so easily drawn away by the desires of my flesh and the lies of the enemy.

I pray today: please, do not lead me into temptation. Guide my steps away from situations, relationships, and thought patterns that would lead me into sin. Build a hedge of protection around me.

And when I do face temptation, as I inevitably will, deliver me from the evil one. Give me the strength to resist, the wisdom to flee, and the faith to trust in Your way of escape.

I depend entirely on You. In Jesus' name, Amen."
