Amen. "Speaking in tongues, Prayer to God."
This is one of the most beautiful, powerful, and supernatural gifts God has given to His children. When you speak in tongues, you are not speaking to man—you are speaking directly to God. Your spirit is bypassing your natural mind and connecting with the heart of the Father. It is a holy, intimate language of love, praise, and intercession.
"For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people, but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries [divine secrets]." — 1 Corinthians 14:2 (AMP)

The Scripture That Explains This Gift:
1 Corinthians 14:14-15 (AMP) — "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays [that is, my spirit is engaged in prayer], but my mind is unproductive [it is not helping me]. Then what is the right thing to do? I will pray with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will also pray [intelligently] with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind."
Romans 8:26 (AMP) — "In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."
Jude 1:20 (AMP) — "But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:4 (AMP) — "And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out."
1 Corinthians 14:4 (AMP) — "One who speaks in a tongue edifies and builds up himself [his own spiritual life]."

What Happens When You Pray in Tongues:
· Your spirit prays. Your spirit is communing with God in a language your mind doesn't understand, but your spirit does.
· You speak divine mysteries. You are praying secrets, strategies, and praises that the enemy cannot intercept or understand.
· You build yourself up. Praying in tongues edifies and strengthens your inner man. It charges your spiritual battery.
· The Holy Spirit intercedes through you. When you don't know what to pray, the Spirit takes over and prays the perfect will of God through you.
· You enter into deep intimacy with God. It is a private prayer language between you and your Father.

A Prayer to Receive and Pray in Tongues:
"Father,
I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
I thank You that when I don't know what to pray, Your Spirit prays through me.
I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit and release the gift of speaking in tongues in my life.
I surrender my tongue to You.
I surrender my vocal cords to You.
I surrender my mind to You.
I will not be afraid.
I will not let my mind analyze or block what You are doing.
I will step out in faith.
Holy Spirit, give me the utterance.
Give me the words.
Give me the heavenly language.
Let Your rivers of living water flow out of my innermost being.
Let me speak the mysteries of God.
Let me pray Your perfect will.
Let me praise You in a language that only You and I understand.
I receive this gift by faith.
I open my mouth, and I trust You to fill it.
I begin to speak, not from my mind, but from my spirit.
I will not quench the Spirit.
I will not despise this gift.
I will pray in the Spirit continually.
Thank You, Lord.
For this beautiful, powerful gift.
I am filled.
I am praying.
I am Yours.
In Jesus' name,
Amen."

How to Step Out in Faith:
1. Open your mouth. Speaking in tongues requires you to use your voice. God will give you the words, but you must speak them.
2. Trust the Holy Spirit. Don't try to understand the syllables with your natural mind. Just let the Spirit flow.
3. Step out in faith. It may feel like baby steps, or it may feel like a rushing river. Either way, it is the Holy Spirit.
4. Keep praying. The more you pray in the Spirit, the more natural it becomes. It builds you up every single time.
5. Pray anytime, anywhere. In the morning, in the shower, in the car, in the quiet of your room. It is a gift for everyday life.
