Pray to thy father in secret.

Amen. "Pray to thy Father in secret."

This is a direct invitation from Jesus Himself. In the Sermon on the Mount, He warned against praying to be seen by men—praying for the applause of the crowd, the approval of others, or the image of being "spiritual." Instead, He gave us a beautiful, liberating invitation: go into your secret place, close the door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And He promises that your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you openly.

"But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open." — Matthew 6:6 (AMP)

The Scripture That Honors Secret Prayer:

Matthew 6:5 (AMP) — "And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full."

Psalm 91:1 (AMP) — "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

Jeremiah 29:13 (AMP) — "Then you will seek Me, inquire for and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

Isaiah 26:20 (AMP) — "Come, my people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide for a little while until the [Lord’s] indignation is over."

Psalm 139:1-4 (AMP) — "O Lord, You have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me... Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], Behold, O Lord, You know it all."

What It Means to Pray in Secret:

· It is about intimacy, not performance. You are not praying to impress anyone. You are praying to connect with your Father.

· It removes the pressure. In secret, you don't have to have the right words or the perfect posture. You can be completely honest, raw, and real.

· It builds true faith. When no one is watching, and you still pray, you are proving that your relationship with God is genuine.

· Your Father sees. Even when no one else knows what you are going through, your Father sees every tear, hears every whisper, and knows every thought.

· He rewards openly. The secret time you spend with God will produce visible fruit in your life.

A Prayer of the Secret Place:

"Father,

I come to You in secret.

I close the door of my room, and I close the door of my heart to the noise of the world.

I am not here to perform.

I am not here to impress anyone.

I am not here to be seen by men.

I am here for You.

You see me.

You know me.

You hear me.

And that is enough.

I pour out my heart to You.

I share my fears, my dreams, my failures, and my hopes.

I ask for Your wisdom.

I ask for Your forgiveness.

I ask for Your guidance.

I ask for Your peace.

Let this secret place be a sanctuary.

Let this time with You be the most important part of my day.

Let my prayers rise like incense to Your throne.

I do not need the applause of the crowd.

I only need the approval of my Father.

I do not need to be seen by people.

I only need to be seen by You.

And I know that You, who see what is done in secret,

will reward me openly.

Thank You for this secret place.

Thank You for listening.

Thank You for being my Father.

In Jesus' name,

Amen."

A Blessing Over Your Secret Place:

May your secret place with God become the most precious part of your day. May you find Him there—in the quiet, in the stillness, and in the honesty of your heart. May your Father who sees in secret pour out His presence upon you, answer your prayers, and reward you openly. And may you know—deep in your soul—that you are loved, seen, and heard by the One who created you.

"Pray to thy Father in secret."

He is already there.

He is already listening.

The door is closed, and heaven is open.

Amen.
