The Lord is on my side.

 Psalm 118:6 — A Poem

"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can [mere] man do to me?"

— Psalm 118:6 (AMP)

---

The Lord Is on My Side

The Lord is on my side—

what shadow dares to stand

against the light He brings?

I will not fear.

What can mere man do to me?

Dust he is, and breath,

a passing wind, a fading flower—

and I am held by Hands

that flung the stars in place.

Out of my distress I called;

the Lord came near and set me free.

He stands among my helpers now,

my triumph in His eyes.

So let the nations rage,

let voices rise and fall—

the Lord is on my side.

I will not fear.

What can mere man do to me,

when God Himself is near?
