Give me a clean heart.

Amen. "Give me a clean heart."

This is one of the most honest, humble, and powerful prayers in all of Scripture. It is the cry of David after his fall, and it is the cry of every soul that realizes we cannot clean ourselves up—we need God to do a deep, supernatural work inside of us. God doesn't just want you to behave better on the outside; He wants to transform you from the inside out.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me." — Psalm 51:10 (AMP)

The Scripture That Promises a Clean Heart:

Ezekiel 36:26 (AMP) — "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."

Matthew 5:8 (AMP) — "Blessed [anticipating God's presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God."

Psalm 24:3-4 (AMP) — "Who may ascend onto the mountain of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? One who has clean hands and a pure heart..."

1 John 1:9 (AMP) — "If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness."

Psalm 119:9 (AMP) — "How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to Your precepts]."

A Prayer for a Clean Heart:

"Father,

I come to You with a humble heart.

I do not want to just look clean on the outside;

I want to be clean on the inside.

I want my heart to be pure before You.

Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Wash away the stains of sin.

Cleanse me from the hidden faults and the secret struggles.

Remove the pride, the bitterness, the unforgiveness, and the fear.

Take away this heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh—a heart that beats for You.

Renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence.

Do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,

and sustain me with a willing spirit.

I surrender my heart to You.

Make it a dwelling place for Your Spirit.

Make it a throne for Your presence.

Make it a fountain of Your love.

Make it a vessel of Your grace.

Let my heart be pure, Lord.

Not so I can boast, but so I can see You.

Not so I can be praised, but so You can be glorified.

Not so I can be perfect, but so I can be close to You.

Thank You for the blood of Jesus that cleanses me.

Thank You for the Holy Spirit who renews me.

Thank You for Your Word that washes me.

I receive my clean heart today.

I receive my renewed spirit today.

I am washed. I am cleansed. I am made new.

In Jesus' name,

Amen."

A Blessing Over Your Heart:

May the Lord create in you a clean heart. May He wash away every stain, every wound, and every weight. May He replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh—tender, responsive, and alive to Him. May He fill you with His Holy Spirit and renew a steadfast spirit within you. And may you know—deep in your soul—that you are cleansed, you are pure, and you are wholly His.

"Give me a clean heart."

He hears you.

He is washing you.

He is making you new.

Receive it—and walk in the beauty of His holiness.

Amen.
