Psalm 1

 Amen. Psalm 1 is the doorway to the entire book of Psalms—a wisdom psalm that lays out two paths: the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked. It is a call to root your life in God's Word, to delight in His law, and to bear fruit that lasts.

Psalm 1

"Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked

or stand in the way that sinners take

or sit in the company of mockers,

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,

and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither—

whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!

They are like chaff

that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked leads to destruction."

"Whose leaf does not wither" You remain vibrant and alive in God. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." (Isaiah 40:31)

"Whatever they do prospers" God blesses the work of your hands. "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." (Proverbs 16:3)

"The wicked are like chaff" A life without God is empty and unstable. "The way of the wicked leads to destruction." (Psalm 1:6)

"The Lord watches over the way of the righteous" God knows, loves, and protects His people. "The Lord will watch over your coming and going." (Psalm 121:8)

🙏 A Prayer of Psalm 1

Father,

Make me like a tree planted by streams of water.

Root me in Your Word.

Nourish me with Your truth.

Let me delight in Your law day and night.

Keep me from walking in step with the wicked.

Keep me from standing in the way of sinners.

Keep me from sitting in the company of mockers.

Let my life bear fruit in season.

Let my leaf not wither.

Let whatever I do prosper for Your glory.

Watch over my way, Lord.

Lead me in the path of the righteous.
