 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. What It Means to Be Salt:

· Salt preserves. It keeps things from decaying. As salt, you are called to preserve what is good, true, and holy in a world that is decaying.

· Salt flavors. It makes things taste better. As salt, you are called to bring the flavor of heaven—love, joy, peace, kindness—into every environment.

· Salt purifies. It cleanses and heals. As salt, you are called to bring healing and cleansing to broken places.

· Salt creates thirst. As salt, your life should make others thirsty for the Living Water—Jesus.

What It Means to Be Light:

· Light illuminates. It reveals what is hidden. As light, you are called to expose darkness and reveal truth.

· Light guides. It shows the way. As light, you are called to point others to Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

· Light warms. It brings comfort. As light, you are called to bring hope and comfort to the hopeless and hurting.

· Light cannot be hidden. A city on a hill, a lamp on a stand—your light is meant to be seen.

A Prayer to Be Salt and Light:

"Lord,

Make us salt and light in this world.

Let us preserve what is good.

Let us flavor every place with Your love.

Let us purify what is broken.

Let us make others thirsty for You.

Let us illuminate the darkness.

Let us guide the lost.

Let us warm the cold.

Let us shine—not for our glory, but for Yours.

Let our lives be a testimony that draws others to You.

Let our words be seasoned with grace.

Let our actions reflect Your heart.

Let our presence bring Your kingdom near.

We are not of this world—

but we are sent into it.

Use us.

Fill us.

Send us.

Make us salt and light—for Your glory.
