If you pray and believe, you will receive it

Here is a poetic reflection and a collection of scriptures on the powerful principle of praying with believing faith—receiving before you see.

Believe That You Have Received

Before the answer comes in sight,

Before the morning turns to light,

Before the mountain moves away—

Believe that you have received today.

Not a wish, not a hope, not a desperate plea,

But a confident trust in the One who sees.

The prayer is heard, the answer sealed,

By faith, the breakthrough is revealed.

So when you pray, release the care,

And know that God is already there.

He is faithful, He is true,

And He will do what He promised you.

Do not look at what you see,

But at the One who set you free.

Your circumstance may cry, "Not yet!"

But faith declares, "My debt is met."

Thank Him now for what will be,

For eyes that see invisibly.

For the answer that is on its way,

Believe that you have received today.

For Jesus said, with words so clear,

"Have faith in God, do not fear.

Whatever you ask when you pray,

Believe you've received—it will be done for you today."

Scripture for Believing Prayer

Believe That You Have Received:

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24)

Ask and You Will Receive:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)

If You Believe, You Will Receive:

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22)

Have Faith in God:

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them." (Mark 11:22-23)

Whatever You Ask in My Name:

"And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it." (John 14:13-14)

If You Remain in Me:

"If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." (John 15:7)

This Is the Confidence We Have:

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him." (1 John 5:14-15)

Ask in Faith, Without Doubting:

"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord." (James 1:6-7)

According to Your Faith:

"According to your faith let it be done to you." (Matthew 9:29)

All Things Are Possible:

"Everything is possible for one who believes." (Mark 9:23)

If Two of You Agree:

"Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

Pray Without Ceasing:

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV)

Do Not Be Anxious:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Call to Me:

"Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." (Jeremiah 33:3)

He Is Able to Do Immeasurably More:

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." (Ephesians 3:20)

The Prayer of Faith:

"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up." (James 5:15)

A Prayer of Believing Faith

Father,

I come before You in the name of Jesus,

not with doubt,

but with faith.

Your Word says that when I pray,

I must believe that I have received,

and it will be done for me.

So Lord, I choose to believe.

Before I see the answer,

before the circumstance changes,

before the mountain moves—

I believe that You have heard me,

and that You are already at work.

I thank You now for what You will do.

I praise You for the answer that is on its way.

I release my worry and my fear,

and I trust in Your perfect timing.

Not my will, but Yours be done.

But I know that You are a good Father,

and You love to give good gifts

to Your children who ask.

So I ask with confidence.

I believe with expectation.

And I receive with gratitude.

In Jesus' mighty name,

Amen.
