Jesus overcame sin and death.

 Jesus Overcame Sin and Death

Jesus overcame sin—not by ignoring its weight,

Not by pretending our rebellion was not great.

He faced it head-on, took its full demand,

And crushed its power with His own wounded hand.

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

Sin had a hold—a deathly grip,

A chain that made the whole world slip.

But Jesus, sinless, became sin for us,

And broke the curse on the cursed cross.

Jesus overcame death—the final foe,

The grave that held all hopes below.

He entered its darkness, He tasted its sting,

Then rose as the resurrection and the life, the King.

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)

He overcame—not with a sword or shield,

But with love that refused to yield.

He laid down His life, then took it again,

And shattered the power of death and sin.

So now I live—not under fear,

For death has lost its venom here.

Sin no longer has to reign,

For Jesus broke its every chain.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

Jesus overcame. And in His victory, I stand.

Redeemed, forgiven, held in His hand.

No sin too great, no death too strong—

Jesus overcame, and I belong.

Amen.
