God Is Light
A Reflection on 1 John 1:5
God is light—pure, radiant, and true,
In Him there is no darkness, no shadow, no hue
Of sin or deceit, no hidden stain,
No flicker of evil, no hint of pain.
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5, AMP)
He is the Sun that never sets,
The dawn that every fear forgets.
He is the lamp that guides my feet,
The brightness where my soul can meet
The fullness of His holy face,
The glory of His endless grace.
In His light, I see my need—
Every hidden thought, every selfish deed.
The shadows flee, the lies are bare,
His truth exposes every snare.
But not to shame, not to destroy—
To heal, to cleanse, to fill with joy.
For You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord illumines my darkness. (2 Samuel 22:29, AMP)
God is light—and in that light, I walk.
No more stumbling, no more balk
At the path He sets before my eyes.
His radiance burns through every disguise
That the enemy wraps around my heart—
His light tears the lies apart.
When darkness whispers I am alone,
His light reminds me of His throne.
When shadows claim I have no worth,
His light declares my second birth.
When fear would blind and doubt would hide,
His light becomes my faithful guide.
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? (Psalm 27:1, AMP)
God is light—and I am called to shine,
A mirror of His love divine.
Not by my own, but by His flame,
Reflecting back His glorious name.
A city on a hill, a lamp on a stand,
A witness of His healing hand.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14, AMP)
So let me walk in the light as He is in the light,
That fellowship with Him and with His saints be bright.
Let me love the brightness, not the shade,
Let every dark corner be gently unmade
By the penetrating, purifying ray
That turns my midnight into day.
If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7, AMP)
God is light.
No darkness in Him at all.
And in His light, I stand, I rise, I call
Him Father, Friend, and King—
The radiant source of everything.
Let there be light—and there was light.
And in that light, I find my flight
From every shadow, every chain—
God is light, and He will reign.
Amen.
