Bless My Dwelling Place
A Reflection on Genesis 28:17, Joshua 24:15, and Psalm 127:1
Bless my dwelling place, O Lord—not a house of brick and stone,
But a home where Your presence is fully, deeply known.
Let every room and doorway echo with Your name,
And let this dwelling place become a sanctuary for Your flame.
“How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” (Genesis 28:17)
Bless the thresholds where I enter and where I depart.
Let the name of Jesus be the first word in every heart.
Bless the windows where I gaze upon the world outside—
Let me see it through Your eyes, with grace and truth as my guide.
Bless the kitchen, where I gather for daily bread and wine,
Let gratitude and fellowship around the table shine.
Bless the rooms of rest, where sleep and dreams are found,
Let Your angels guard the silence and Your peace in me abound.
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
Bless the walls that shelter me from the storm,
Bless the roof that keeps me safe and warm.
Bless the door that opens to welcome the stranger,
Bless the hearth that protects me from danger.
Let this home be holy—not in perfect cleanliness,
But in the warmth of kindness, in the depth of faithfulness.
Where forgiveness is a habit, where laughter is a song,
And where the hurting find a shelter to belong.
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. (Psalm 127:1)
So I dedicate this dwelling place to You—
Every wall, every floor, every window, every door.
Come, Lord Jesus, be the center of my life,
And let Your glory rise where my family thrives.
Bless my dwelling place, Lord—today and all my days.
Let it be a place of peace, a haven of grace.
In the name of Jesus, I pray—
Amen.
