Show Us the Way
A Reflection on Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 42:16, and Psalm 25:4-5
Show us the way, O Lord—when the path is dark and long,
When we cannot hear the morning song.
When every signpost fades from view,
And we do not know what to do.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Show us the way—not the way we think is best,
But the way that leads to Your rest.
Not the path of ease and comfort,
But the path that brings us to Your heart.
Show us the way through the wilderness,
Through the desert of our distress.
Lead us by still waters, restore our soul,
And make our broken spirits whole.
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. (Isaiah 42:16)
Show us the way—when we are confused and lost,
When the cost of following seems too great.
Remind us that You are the Way, the Truth, the Life,
And that You will never leave us in our strife.
Show us the way—not for a moment, but for all our days,
Let Your truth guide us, let Your love amaze.
Let Your Spirit be our compass, Your Word our light,
And let us walk in Your ways, morning, noon, and night.
Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)
Show us the way, O Lord—we surrender our plans to You.
Lead us, guide us, make us new.
In Your way, we will trust and obey,
And we will follow You all the way.
Amen.
