You Are All That I Need
A Reflection on Psalm 23:1, 2 Corinthians 12:9, and Philippians 4:19
You are all that I need—not just a part, but the whole,
The deep, abiding satisfaction of my soul.
When the world offers its treasures, its pleasures, its fame,
I find in You the answer, the reason, the flame.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1)
You are my bread when I am hungry for truth,
You are my water when my spirit is parched and uncouth.
You are my shelter when the storms of life rage,
You are my comfort when I turn the page.
You are all that I need—in the silence and the song,
When I am weak and when I am strong.
Your grace is sufficient, Your power is made perfect,
In my weakness, Your strength is reflected.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
I need no other foundation, no other hope,
For in You, I have learned to cope.
With every trial, with every test,
You are the One who gives me rest.
You are all that I need—for today, for tomorrow,
For every joy, for every sorrow.
You are the Alpha, the Omega, the Beginning, the End,
The One who holds me and will never offend.
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
So I rest in You, my All in All,
My strength, my song, my standing tall.
You are all that I need. This I know:
In Your love, I will forever grow.
Amen.
