You Are the Reward
You are the reward. Not just the Giver of gifts, but the Gift.
You are the treasure unearthed in the field, for which all else was sold.
Thepearl of greatest price, worth the losing of every lesser hold.
Not a wage for my labor, but the inheritance of grace,
The glory shining in the eyes of my Savior's face.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
You are the prize. Not a medal to wear, but a crown to become.
The finish line of my faith, the everlasting welcome home.
The"Well done," the embrace, the shared throne, the delight—
Not something You give from Your hand, but Yourself in the light.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. (Philippians 3:7-8)
Let every other promise fade into its proper shade,
Let every lesser glory in Your brilliant light be laid.
For what is heaven,if it is without Your presence there?
What is eternity,if it is not spent in Your care?
So I run this race, I fight this fight, with a different end in view:
Not for points or praise, but to know and be known by You.
You are the journey's end and the journey's constant way,
My reward today and my prize for eternity's day.
You are the reward. You are the prize.
My heart's only longing, the joy of my eyes.
Amen.
