Created for Greatness
We are created for greatness—but not as the world defines,
Not in the halls of power,or in fortune’s shifting lines.
Not for our name in lights,or a legacy of dust,
But for a sacred purpose,in a covenant of trust.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
This greatness is a calling, woven deep within the soul,
A destiny of glory that makes the broken whole.
It is to bear His image,to reflect His radiant face,
To walk in works prepared for us by His resplendent grace.
It is the greatness of the servant, who kneels to wash the feet.
The greatness of the merciful, who offers love complete.
The greatness of the faithful in the small and hidden place,
Where kindness lights a shadowed corner with the evidence of grace.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant… just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” (Matthew 20:26, 28)
So let us rise to this—the high, the holy, and the true.
To love as we’ve been loved,to see a world made new
Through hands that heal and voices that proclaim
The mighty, gentle power of His great and holy name.
We are created for greatness: to abide within the Vine,
To bear much fruit that lasts,a taste of heaven’s wine.
To overcome through testimony, through the blood of Christ alone,
And find our truest greatness kneeling at His throne.
We are created for greatness.
In Him. For Him. With Him.
To His glory.
Amen.
