You are awesome in this place.

You Are Awesome in This Place

You are awesome in this place, Mighty God.

Seated on the throne, high and lifted up,

The train of Your glory filling this temple with love.

Holy,holy, holy—the angels cry,

And all of creation lifts up the reply.

You are awesome here.

Not as a distant, untouchable star,

But as a consuming fire, yet closer than my next breath,

Convicting,comforting, conquering death.

The weight of Your wonder makes pride lose its voice,

And in the pure silence,my heart can rejoice.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” (Isaiah 6:5)

Your awesomeness is holiness—pure, radiant, and bright,

A power that shatters our comfortable night.

Yet this same awe drew near in a manger of hay,

And in gentle hands that touched the sick and said,“Be on your way.”

It is the awe of the cross, where mercy and justice embraced,

Where relentless love for my soul was boldly faced.

It is theawe of the tomb, that could not contain its King,

And theawe of the Spirit, the gentle, strengthening wing.

So let this place—be it a room, a heart, or a soul—

Be filled with the awesome weight of Your control.

Not to crush, but to crown; not to shatter, but to make new,

For the most awesome truth is thatYou dwell here, too.

You are awesome in this place.

We bow in wonder. We stand in grace.

Amen.

Reflections on His Awesome Presence

The declaration "You are awesome in this place" captures a profound biblical theme:

· The Overwhelming Majesty of God: His "awesomeness" (yir'ah in Hebrew) refers to the reverent, trembling wonder evoked by His supreme holiness and power, as experienced by Isaiah (Isaiah 6) or Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:28).

· The Accessible Glory: In Christ, this awe-inspiring God has made Himself approachable (Hebrews 4:16). The same glory that filled the temple now dwells in believers by the Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16).

· The Transformative Response: True awe leads to purified worship (like Isaiah's cleansed lips), surrendered will, and a life that reflects His holiness.

To acknowledge His awe in your current "place"—be it a physical location or a season of life—is to invite His ruling presence to transform it entirely.
